Don't tell the missus

I shot the models for thisFoster's site about a month ago in Dubai. It was a really fun shoot. Over the day way had 7 models come and basically have a laugh in front of the camera. The client wanted images for the initial launch of the site as well as for future updates so we worked hard and screamed through gigs and gigs of frames. The site has just gone live and is a bit cheeky but a good laugh, just what you'd expect from an Aussie beer brand.

I'll post some of the images on their own later as they're a bit small here.

You can check the site at www.donttellthemissus.com they've also got a twitter feed, follow @fosters_dttm

I've done a few shoots this week of yachts so I'll post some images when I can.

Princess Yachts

I was out shooting another turtle release yesterday afternoon. I'll post pics from that later. Here though, are a few shots that I grabbed of the Princess V58 that was used as a support vessel to carry film crew and photographers out to document the release. It's rare in Dubai to get clouds in the sky along with such a clear haze free day so I thought I'd take full advantage and take these pics on our way back to the marina.

I'm sorting through the actual release shots and will post some later on today.

Laptop Shoot

I've just finished a shoot of a new laptop that's launching over here. The pics are going into a book and also appearing as large format prints at the launch. The brief was to shoot it fairly abstractly in the style of a car brochure. They worked out well and I have around 20 distinct images of which these are a few.

I hired a Nikon D3x to shoot this and was blown away by the quality of the images out of it. Some of the details it picked up were amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing the big prints which will really show them off.

Portraits

I shot these portraits for a singer friend of mine to use as PR images. We went for a simple 2 light set up, beauty dish infront and gridded head from behind. The last pic was with one light in a 3x4 profoto softbox.

I'm really pleased with them. The only downside for me was realising that my studio really isn't big enough, just another thing to add to the list.

I'm off out to sea again today to shoot some luxury yachts for Princess, looking forward to it. I'll post pics when I can, hope the weather cooperates.

Clothing test

I've got a clothing shoot coming up shortly so I decided to experiment with some lighting techniques. It's not for The North Face unfortunately but this jacket served as a great stand-in. The lighting style will work great for the actual shoot, I just wanted to make sure I had it nailed before the shoot itself. I used a couple of Profoto heads with grids on each. These grids are great and really are becoming my 'go to' light modifier, love em. I used a 10º and a 20º on this shot.

Adidas SUPERSTAR 80s 3WAY

Another shot from today of another crooked tongues 3way. This time the iconic 80s Superstar. This one comes with 5 different tongue/lace options so I'll shoot the rest soon.

ADIDAS FORUM MID 3WAY

I've had these a while now but only just got round to shooting them. They're from Crooked Tongues, part of the consortium 3Way release. Check out their site here if you fancy picking up a pair.

Oman black and whites

Just been on a 4 day trip down to Oman. We camped up on the Sayq Plateau which was amazing, 2300m up meant the temp was a cool 20º C, a welcome break from the heat of Dubai. After the first night's camping we drove up and over the mountains near Jebel Shams. The scenery was spectacular and I couldn't resist a few B&W landscape shots before heading down the dirt track all the way to the bottom - possibly the gnarliest drive I've ever done.

Photo Project

My brother, my cousin and a mate of theirs are currently shooting a photo project at the Edinburgh Festival. They've got themselves a portable white backdrop and are grabbing passers by on the busy High Street and doing a street portrait of them. The plan is to hold and exhibition at the end of the festival, a sort of faces of the festival thing. Last night they took it a step further and set up a night shoot at Potterrow with a couple of snooted strobes. I grabbed a quick shot while they were setting up.

They're talking to a couple of venues about the exhibition, I hope they pull it off. You can grab a peek at some of their images over on their flickr pages.

UK trip

I'm back in the UK at the moment until the end of August. Got a few things to do while I'm here, the least of which is to renovate a house. No small task but it's going well. I've got a few shoots lined up too. The first one I've already started which is for a new dip brand called dipnation. Very tasty dips, I shot the serving suggestions for website and promo materials. My brother assisted me on it which was great. Here are a couple of the shots.

Spinach & Feta dip

Roasted Butternut and Sweet Chilli dip

I've got some pack shots and ingredient shots to do next week, looking forward to eating more of the dips!

Later on I'm hoping to hook up with a free-runner and a freestyle biker for a shoot which should be wicked. There's the possibility of some fashion work too so it's going to be a busy month one way or another. I'll post more pics when I take em.

Adidas Originals Jivebomber

Shot a new pair of sneakers earlier this week, Adidas Originals Jivebombers. These are the dark ones, they also come in a cream colour. Total bowling alley look to them which I like. Look like something The Dude would rock.

More Desert KTM shots

I couldn't resist putting up a couple more shots from this morning.

KTM in the Desert

I was out early this morning in the desert to do some shots with a friend of mine of his new KTM. What a bike, super sweet. Managed to get a few nice pics before the sun got too unbearable, the benefits of getting up before sunrise.

More Turtles

I was out on a turtle release shoot again this morning. The sea was pretty rough so being in it trying to get great pics was a real challenge. I did manage to get some great shots underwater though of the turtles making their bid for freedom...

Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge 08 book

Here are a few snaps of the Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge 2008 book that features some of my photography.

The cover image on the book was not shot by me but all other images here were. It's an epic book, A3 landscape 80pp hardback. There are 6 fold out pages too, which means for a coffee table book, you better have a massive coffee table! I worked hard designing it and it was great to see it go from my computer screen to a massive Heildelberg press at Modern Printing Co. in Dubai. They did a great job with the printing, the finished book looks great.
